The Monaghan Farm Heritage
Jim Bailey, an ace WWII fighter pilot, publisher and founder of Drum magazine, acquired the farm in the 1950’s. Jim had come to Africa to look after the considerable estate built by his late father Sir Abe Bailey, politician, financier, sportsman and philanthropist. Among Sir Abe Bailey’s properties in Johannesburg were the farms Bryanston and Hyde Park both of which have become landmark suburbs.
